Webinar: Facilitating Big Work: Guiding a Project from Initial Spark to Sharing with an Audience with Letty Rising!

April 8 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

ET $45

Montessori teachers often love the idea of Big Work but struggle with the logistics: How do you move children from “I want to research dolphins” to a finished, shareable piece of work? This session provides a concrete framework for guiding projects from beginning to end while still honoring student ownership.

Key Elements:

  1. The Spark—Identify authentic interests and frame them as researchable questions.
  2. The Plan—Using tools like project proposals, group contracts, and timelines to set structure.
  3. The Process—Supporting research, experimentation, and creation while building executive function skills.
  4. The Collaboration—Teaching communication, conflict resolution, and division of labor along the way.
  5. The Product—Helping children refine, polish, and prepare their final work.
  6. The Presentation—Coaching students in how to share their learning with peers and the community.
  7. The Reflection—Closing the loop with journaling, peer feedback, or rubrics to build metacognition.

Takeaways for teachers:

  • Templates and tools (project organizer, Gantt chart, research planner).
  • Language to use when scaffolding independence without taking over.
  • Strategies for keeping projects alive when children hit resistance or conflict.
  • Ways to celebrate and showcase work that honor both process and product.

Note: This webinar is intended for Elementary (6-12) guides.
