Isla Montessori School in Dandan, Saipan of the Mariana Island chain south of Japan, will incorporate the Austronesian languages Carolinian and Chamorro. Led by Susan Book and Diana Silveira, AMI and AMS respectively, the school will also offer parent education and community outreach.

Ohio House passes bill in support of cursive handwriting in Elementary curriculum   The Ohio House passed a bill that would require the State Department of Education to develop a new cursive writing curriculum by the end of this year. The cursive handwriting courses would be targeted for students in kindergarten through fifth-grade.

Training program becomes first accredited online Montessori Secondary program, adds international locations for review
The Center for Guided Montessori Studies has announced that the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education has unanimously voted to approve the Secondary I & II certification programs, with North Carolina and Indiana as approved residential sites. New international locations, if approved, will bring Montessori training to Asia and the Middle East.

Montessori 6th graders use grant, purchase art for their school as part of ongoing grant program.
24 schools in Denver this year were awarded $500 grants to purchase art for their schools. Run by Susan Boehnke, the program is run with Janus Henderson Investors to provide quality art pieces to area schools. The Montessori students negotiated directly with the artist, Aaron Hequembourg, to obtain a desired painting for their school.

Montessori Assistant Principal presents robot, coding used at Waco Independent School District's Tech Summit
Hailey Dean, Assistant Principal of Lake Air Montessori Magnet School, was one of 20 presenters at the inaugural Tech Summit held by Waco Independent School District. Dean presented Ozobot, a small robot used in a Story Creation class, to illustrate how technology and coding basics were used as attractive teaching tools for her students.
