Head of School in Billings, Montana

Grace Montessori Academy, Billings, MT, is seeking an energetic, personable educational leader to become its next Head-of-School starting in July 2020.

GMA is a private, non-profit institution of learning, based on the Montessori Method of instruction, serving children from 3 years through grade 6. Founded in 2007, GMA is housed in a purpose-built, 25,000 square foot state-of-the-art building that meets the unique needs of a Montessori educational environment, situated on 4 acres of land in Billings, Montana.

The new Head of Grace Montessori Academy will be a strategic and confident forward thinker, able to articulate and achieve a strong vision, inspire and support others, and manage people, business, and programs in order to uphold and promote the school’s mission/vision.

HoS Leadership and Personal Qualities

  • Qualified educational leader who fully embraces the Montessori pedagogy and a Christian core philosophy and who will be committed to ensuring that they remain central to the school’s program at every level.
  • An approachable leader who loves children and is eager to engage genuinely with students, faculty and parents.
  • A confident leader with personal integrity and a commitment to living Christian virtues.
  • A leader with excellent administrative skills, including the ability to multitask and to delegate appropriately.
  • A leader who celebrates the individuality of each child and staff member.

 

HoS Responsibilities

  • Implement the school’s mission, vision and goals as defined by the Board of Trustees.
  • Maintain positive public and school community relations.
  • Remain true to the Christian Montessori philosophy of education in all aspects of the school.
  • Act with fiscal responsibility.
  • Participate fully in the external aspects of school leadership, including playing a significant role in donor stewardship and marketing.
  • Provide leadership to faculty, staff and parents; and
  • Achieve and maintain overall operational success.

This position reports to the Board of Trustees.

HoS Professional Qualifications

Requirements for this position include:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Educational Leadership (or equivalent).
  • Strong Christian foundation.
  • Five or more years of teaching experience.
  • Charismatic personality with both adults and children.
  • Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Understanding of the Montessori pedagogy.
  • Experience in the direct supervision of faculty/staff.
  • Experience in organizational growth and management, preferably with a non-profit school.
  • Demonstrated financial and business acumen.
